Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a software engineer, which involves designing, writing and testing code.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I thoroughly enjoy my experience in the workplace, however my experiences at UCLan leave a lot to be desired. The teaching is poor, and the same problems repeat year on year. However the new intakes into the scheme no longer attend UCLan, and I don't know how good the new provider is.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt many new programming languages, frameworks, design patterns, and testing techniques. I've also learnt how safety critical code is developed and the importance of it.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is mostly well structured, I attend university 2 days a week, complete my level 4 diploma for half a day per week, and work the other 2.5 days. This again is different for the new intake of apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer are very supportive, and always try to arrange accommodations wherever possible if anyone is struggling.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
The support from UCLan is minimal, with any problems taking a long time to resolve.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I learn about modern technologies (compared to what is used in the workplace) that can potentially be brought in and used to improve.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are employee resource groups to support different diverse groups of people, and these groups often run events.
