Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I undertake various software engineering tasks and projects within the company, using a variety of programming languages and software engineering concepts.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my program a lot.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have learned several new programming languages and developed other key skills, including version control, naming conventions and undertaking independent and guided research.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The training section of the programme is very well organised, with information available on every aspect of the current schedule, deadlines and expected levels of progress at specific points.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer, with both a placement manager and an internal skills coach available for guidance and support wherever necessary.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive an additional day each week to complete work towards my degree assignments and an evidence portfolio that will be used as part of my qualification. My internal skills coach provides a lot of support in the evidence portfolio, providing detailed feedback on evidence submitted.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Each team organises their own social activities, and networking events are available. As I have only experienced one placement so far, I have limited experience in this area.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have found the people and culture at BAE Systems to be very supportive, with guidance and information available in every area it may be needed from staff dedicated solely to supporting apprentices.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Don't be worried about any perceived lack of knowledge or skills, as the course and company are friendly to those with little experience in software engineering.
