Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a manufacturing engineer I aid in supporting OPS completing tasks by providing support to manufacturing.
I also carry out continuous improvement projects business wide.
Furthermore I ensure all outputs follow safety and quality requirements.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I hugely enjoy my program. It is the ideal environment to learn on the job but also gain a university degree in doing so.
Working with individuals with massive amounts of experience is so valuable to the learning experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned loads about continuous improvement using processes such as lean six sigma
I have developed communication skills in the form of stakeholder management and presentation skills.
I have learned to focus and prioritise tasks depending on current priorities
I have developed critical thinking skills within projects I'm tasked with

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Program has been organised so far, management are always open for feedback on anything we require more support on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive as much support as I ask for. If I am not sure of something I can lean into the Manufacturing engineering team or the early careers team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive adequate support from the university. It is more than what is received when attending university on a full time student basis but still very student driven. The worked based learning aspect of the course is very well supported
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel the skills gained in university can be transferred to work i.e. communication, prioritisation etc. Content is relevant depending on the current placement.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are employee resource groups you can get involved in such as gender equaliy, LGBTQ+, Inspiring Women's Network, Veterans etc.
There is also a singing group
