Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working in placements dedicated to data analysis, being on team projects where the tasks i carry out include data analysis, data modelling, data visualisation, data engineering, data cleansing. The purpose of this is to achieve the knowledge, skills and behaviours to qualify for my apprenticeship.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i really enjoy my degree apprenticeship programme. There is a clear pathway of where the programme is heading and i believe that i am making consistent progress in achieving my KSBs from both my work placements and university modules.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes. I have learned a large amount of new skills and develop on these every days. Some of these skills include: data analysis, data modelling, data visualisation, data management, data engineering and many more professional skills i have picked up from interacting with different people from the business daily.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Well organised, the structure of the apprenticeship is that every 6 months you change placement in the workplace to get exposed to new teams and projects. The university lectures are all organised at the beginning of the year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive the required support from my skills coach. If needed extra support, i know it is available.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive support from my training provider every 3 months in my tripartite review, where my progress is reviewed by my skills coach, university tutor and placement manager. Further support is available if it is needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Some modules have been more beneficial in the workplace than others, however once we begin modules relating to our specialism, this question can be answered more accurately.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I have taken part in apprenticeship open events for a chance to network with other apprentices. Also, i have become a STEM ambassador where i am being made aware of any upcoming events i can attend.

It is an exciting company with a bright future ahead and many opportunities. I feel safe working for the organisation and feel supported by my colleagues.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Make sure that you understand the company and what we do. It is important to understand the core values of the organisation and why you would want to work on some of the operations we perform.
