Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Every 4 months we move to a different placement. This is so that we can experience different job rolls within the manufacturing engineering bracket.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The teams i have been in are great however i was under the impression when applying for this apprenticeship that there would be more opportunity for hands on work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
yes, I have been able to develop a lot of skills, from networking abilities to working with digital systems.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
It is reasonably organised however it has been felt that level 4 apprentices get forgotten about quite a lot. We are either completely brushed over when we have apprentice announcements or we are just grouped in with level 3 apprentices despite there being differences between our schemes.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
with the CAD section of the qualification, it would make sense if we used the software that is used in the business as we just have to completely re-learn CAD when we get into our placements.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
yes, I participate in a 5 a side and 7 a side football game every Thursday.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall it is a very good company to work for in terms of pay and benefits, however if you are a level 4 or 3 apprentice then your pay isn't great.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Apply for a degree apprenticeship if you are in a position where you need to pay bills for a house/apartment.
