Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role involves modelling on CAD systems and creating drawings to reflect change on the ship as well as producing solution sketches to operations to resolve problems and issues. My responsibilities vary depending on what placement I am doing currently. I have worked on a variety of teams such as international contacts such as the hunter and river class programmes as well as working on float off for the type T26 programme.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy my work when it is busy and there is varied tasks. I struggle when work is slow and can find the pace quite boring. I enjoy task that are hands on and I can see what I am doing come into effect. I sometimes struggle to find satisfaction in the work I am doing as I don't feel as if I have a winder impact on the teams I am working on.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt how to model on cad systems as well as create drawings to high standards to communicate information to manufacturing and operations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
the programme structure changes continuously as the company tries to figure out what method works best for apprentices. I find it easy to contact people when in need.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I work closely with my career coach and receive lots of support from them. they provide a lot of options such as flexible working and employee assistance programmes if required.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The college works closely with my company to ensure smooth running of the college course. The course is enjoyable academically but I struggle to see how I will ever use the course in my day job.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel as if the qualification doesn't have much impact on my role as I dont do any maths or calculations in detail design.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I get involved with "VIP" events where guests want to meet apprentices and see how apprenticeships can be improved throughout Scotland.
