Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

day to day, I spend my time on the workshop in the training centre where I learn the basic skills of engineering on the different sections that are required for my apprenticeship.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I very much enjoy my programme and find it very helpful to my learning

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

i have learnt many new skills such as how to turn on a lathe, how to mill on a milling machine and how to do fitting

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

i believe the practical side of the apprenticeship is well structured and i am well supported by my skills coaches however the college side of is not well structured and needs improving
How much support do you receive from your employer?

i receive plenty of support from my employer, for example all of our PPE is provided and majority of uniform is there.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

on the woprkshop i receive tons of support however in college there is minimal support and it feels very outdated
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

i feel that my college qualifications do not benefit me in my apprenticeship as there is a lot that i am learning that someone would need if they worked in an office. but in the workshop it massively benefits my role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are professional networking events that you can take part in if you become a stem ambassador or some sort of other thing but there are no sports clubs or social activities

it has been a good start to my career from leaving school and earning whilst i learn which provides me with ore independence to grow
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
i would advise them to ensure they have plenty of time to complete any college work otherwise they will get overwhelmed
