Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

entering the sask building and going to the changing rooms to get changed in to the correct ppe before we enter the workshops. we walk down to the grinding booths to wait for tool box talk. Once that is done we when go and check if our booths are clean and tidy and safe for us to work, if it is all okay to start work we then fill out our slam books to say it is ok to work. we are then either grinding or gouging depending on which part you are doing on you plate. we then go for dinner and then once we have had our dinner we come back and work till 3pm and then we get to go home
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

now we are finally at sask after 6 months of college i am really enjoying everything to do with my trade and the programme it makes it worth getting up of a morning and actually doing my job role. the gouging is what i am enjoying the most and is what i want to be.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

i feel like being at college we were not really learning our trade, we were learning how to be welders and that isnt what i applied to be a applied to be a caulker. now i am at sask i am finally leanring how to do my trade which is good and i am happy about that.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

the college was an absolute mess no tutors and no learning our trade. wasnt able to have a facilities to d oour trade so had to welding. but now we are at sask the skills coaches make sure we are following the correct rules and always making sure we are okay and if we need any help to g and get them.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

we receive as much support as we need. anything we ask for they will try and help us with
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

anything we need from our coaches they will give us help with. they support us and give us a hand with anything we need. they have taught us how to gouge and how to grind. it feels like we are actully leanring now we are at sask
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

once we are out of our time it will eventually help us with future promotions. if we ever wanted to go further up the ladder you will need the correct qualifications to get at that point.

i wouldnt really know as i havent asked about that but im sure if i asked i would be told.

stable career. future promotions. there is a lot of opportunities to be other things learn other things and meet a lot of new people and friends.

be confident in interviews and make sure to answer questions clearly and confidently.
