Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my current 6-month placement I am helping to write a section of code with external and internal teams, and figuring out the best way this can be done collaboratively. I am responsible for ensuring that this collaboration is efficient and effective.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship, I get to gain new skills and industry experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have vastly improved my existing skills, whilst learning a lot more. I have learnt how to act in a professional environment, as well as coding standards and practices, and multiple new coding languages.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well structured, I am at university two days a week during term time, and change placements every 6 months. I know my placements in advance, as well as who to go to for support.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive as much support from my employer as I ask for. You have safeguarding leads, wellbeing leads and more at your disposal. The employer will also support any medical needs you may have, such as specialist keyboards and chairs to make you more comfortable at work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I get some support from my training provider, such as wellbeing and designated office hours. Ina ddition, most teachers are available over email and teams if you have a question.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel it slightly helps me to perform better in my role. However, in my experience I end up teaching myself the topic at work first, and then 6 months later learn it at university, although this does help to solidify my knowledge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of extra-curricular activities at work, including networking events, STEM fairs, conferences and much more. There are also social events outside of work which you can get involved in.
