Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I'm in a Nuclear authorisation placement. It involves attending authorisation test groups, speaking to stakeholders, reviewing documents.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I love the placements, the university course is interesting but the delivery is not the best. We are not treated like adults by early careers, we are micromanaged. Functional leads and placement managers are faultless.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
developing existing skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
placements are planned out 3 years in advance. opportunity to change placements and take new opportunities. very well structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Too much. support from early careers, uni, placement managers, functional leads.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
University skills coach provides a lot of support, very proactive at solving any problems.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
university course has very little relevance to our day jobs.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
STRETCH events, apprentice council organises events, placement teams organise socials.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
No
Why?
i would recommend BAE to a full time employee, but not for a degree apprenticeship. i dont think the standard of university and placements is as good as it could be due to the number of apprentices being hired.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
being a DA makes you grow up very fast. its worth considering if thats the right path for everyoine.
