Throughout my apprenticeship I did placements in different roles such as mission systems, human factors, integration and design. I've now moved into Design as a permanent role.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the role and the structure of the apprenticeship programme.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Developed a breadth of knowledge in different engineering sectors. I am now 'learning my trade' as I've moved into the department I enjoyed the most.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The apprenticeship is well structured however due to early careers management leaving and covid-19 etc, our cohort has had a more poorly organised experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support where needed, I have no issue here.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We get given allocated hours to work on our NVQ work and workshops to complete it, the company supports us well in this respect.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Having a base knowledge on engineering/ manufacturing engineering supports me daily and is something I can build on day to day.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Lots of networking events, STEM programmes and workshops to support this.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Research different parts of BAE and know what they all do to have a good understanding of the company's range. Research the role and how your past activities can relate to what you've done.
