Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I complete tasks delegated by the project manager and often lead on meetings on risks, waste management, scope and stage gates.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme as there is an opportunity to work in different areas of the business over the course of my 2 years on the apprenticeship scheme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have improved my skills on Excel massively and have taken advantage of any courses associated with this. Additionally, I have learnt a lot about how a project is started and what processes are put in place to ensure that a project's objectives are met at all of its stages.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well structured as I have the opportunity to work in 4 different areas of TfL over the course of 2 years. This allows me to learn about how different areas of the business operate. Additionally, having a day dedicated to studying is a great benefit.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have a large support network to reach out to if I am in need of any further guidance. I feel very comfortable in asking any questions about certain aspects of Project Management I am unsure of, which has proven to be a big positive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I have been provided with a lot of support from my training provider, who hold webinars on the APM PMQ and give us an opportunity to reflect on what we have learnt. This could be improved with more regular testing on the content that is being covered in the webinars.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The training from the provider helps me to put my actions into context and allows me to gain a better understanding of the tasks I am completing on a daily basis.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
N/A

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?
Yes
Why?
You are very well supported by the different levels of management and have ample opportunities to learn about the different projects the organisation works on, giving apprentices a chance to work in different teams and build a strong network.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
Do not focus too much on any specifics about project management during the application process as you are not required to know anything - that is the point in an apprenticeship! Ensure that you express why you are a good motivational fit for the business and why you would like to work for the company.
