Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Each placement in this apprenticeship varies to the next, in the placement I am in now I manage spreadsheets in Excel to track project spend. I look at budget and schedule using different toolsets and pulling reports to Excel. When the values aren't lining up I then reach out to the project teams to clarify any concerns. I also create PowerPoints monthly to present our status. I interact with a range of employees daily.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme, I enjoy the work in the business and the people that I work with every day. I have been in such supportive teams and if there is ever any concern their is so much support to make you feel comfortable. I am really glad that I chose this programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my IT skills through the use of different software and toolsets, I have developed my decision making skills as I have had to make more decisions independently, I have also developed my communication skills as I communicate with a variety of people day to day. My planning and organisation skills have developed massively on this apprenticeship through the responsibilities I have been given and project I have had to manage.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think the programme is organised well with a great balance of working and learning. All of the criteria to pass end point assessment is delivered in good time and we get ample amount of time to prepare in order to pass the apprenticeship. I do think the organisation and structure could be improved slightly as other apprentices haven't had the same experience that I have and would say different.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I get so much support from my employer I couldn't ask for anymore, we speak every day and have great communication. I feel comfortable to go to my manager/team with any questions or concerns and I feel like they really want me to develop as a person on this scheme.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive as much support as I ask for from my training provider. I feel they give everything to help me pass the scheme. If I have any doubts or concerns they are their to help build my confidence.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification has taught me things about business and project management that have definitely helped in my role. If I had joined the business without the scheme I wouldn't have had the support that the apprenticeship has given me and it would have taken me much longer to settle in.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are so many social activities and networking events to get involved in. We organise our own social activities in teams and in our apprenticeship groups. The scheme and business also organise networking events across the business for everyone to get involved in.

Why?

I think it is a great company to work for, since starting here I feel proud to be a part of the things that we do. I feel the business really want to develop people as I feel I have on this scheme.
