I get to work in a variety of manufacturing and engineering positions throughout the company, handling real world products and experiencing the processes that go along with them
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i enjoy it a lot, it is an excellent opportunity for not only leaning, but also a way to make connections, and gain valuable experience not taught in the classroom
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

i have undertaken a variety of specialised IPC certifications, training at college, as well as location specific training that will prepare me for any upcoming challenges
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

it is well organised, with a college based structure to start with, but tapers toward more full time work as i make my way into the apprenticeship, this allows for a good transition into the intense world of BAE systems, and allows me to take leaning at my own pace
How much support do you receive from your employer?

i receive all of the support i need, whether that be classroom support, or necessary equipment to aid my learning. they also provide support in other ways such as regular health checks and eye tests.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

i receive regular check-ins that provide an opportunity to really let my employer know if i am struggling in any aspects, though this option is always available it allows a more personal face to face interaction
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

it has allowed to to gain a good understanding of complex electronics, as well as the nuances associated with testing and fault finding circuits. there is also the more practical side where you get to lean hands on tasks such as bench work, or industry standard soldering technique.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there is the company sponsored incursion that takes place in the first year, this allows you to really get involved with your team and learn what makes each other tick. a similar activity is also offered at the beginning of the apprenticeship, during icebreaker activities.

Why?
it is a great starting point for a career, whether you are straight out of school or maybe slightly older, it allows a significant entry point for people to gain relevant experience in their role, and also provides extremely transferable skill and valuable qualifications.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
dont stress too much, it can be a daunting task especially with the world renowned name of BAE systems, but the trick is to trust the process and believe that you wont just be tossed in at the deep end, but rather given every opportunity to learn where to step and how to function properly in the world of BAE systems
