Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Calls with various people on the team were arranged for me and I was able to reach out to people I spoke briefly to and arrange further calls to find out more details about their role. Also had the opportunity to sit in on a client call and some general shadowing of a buddy on the team I applied for. There was also an induction session and a closing session which included a reflection session.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was really useful to hear from a wide variety of people as they were able to go beyond the basic overview to avoid repeating themselves, and so we were able to talk to a lot of people about their niche within their role, how they discovered it and the way that PwC allowed them to do that. The experience definitely helped me understand what it would be like to work at PwC and was therefore really worthwhile.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have learnt new networking skills as I have not been able to network properly before and have meaningful conversations with employees of a firm. I became more confident and improved my communication skills to find out more about what working permanently at PwC would look like. Finally, I developed my time management skills to fill my schedule but also keep on top of busy days with meetings back to back to make the most of my time.

Company Culture

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight
5/5
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture seemed to be really inclusive and very teamwork centred, and the majority of the employees that I had the opportunity to speak to had worked at PwC for many years, and said that they stayed because of the people and the social atmosphere that they experienced. They also gave the impression that PwC offered a lot more flexibility and autonomy than other similar firms which they all found to be a significant benefit.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the insight, despite it being super intense and full-on at times, as it is without a doubt the best virtual work experience programme I have done and definitely the most useful for getting a broad range of perspectives on what it would be like to work at PwC as it was quite self-led to some extent and I was able to talk to such a variety of people and ask the questions that I wanted answers to rather than just passively listening to a lecture.

Recommendations and Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC
Be prepared for an extremely long admissions process - PwC were generally better than some other firms at responding promptly if issues arose and not keeping applicants waiting for too long in between stages but there were a lot of them. They really appreciate if you've done your research so if you're reading this then you are definitely on the right track! Don't stress the tests they are testing for lots of things so if it feels like it has gone badly, it probably hasn't.
