Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I participate in and can be assigned tasks within my team that vary from reviewing documents to networking to teams and customers or problem solving. Depending on the placement, this can include various aspects of the aerospace industry from design to security to through-life support.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Very much. All members of staff are helpful and are willing to teach/guide even when they are busy.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed both Hard and Soft skills throughout the apprenticeship. Hard skills include competency in CAD, programming, planning and communication software's, improved maths, English and computer literacy. Generally it has improved my organisational skills, timekeeping, assertiveness and overall confidence doing both independent and team work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
As there are many moving parts to make it possible there could do with some improved organisation and communication, but that is expected with the size and and number of schemes available and the people involved to make that happen.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots, support from my Placement manager, placement teams, skills coach, wider staff members and colleagues and fellow apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider provide lots of support. Improvements could be made in the availability of their resources but they are quick to feedback and respond.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Not a massive amount currently, but I feel this will grow throughout the apprenticeship as I am taught more of the content.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there are councils and frequent events ranging from sports to social to charity to get involved with.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
A very good company that looks after its employees. It focuses on a positive work-life balance that is supportive and in turn makes it both more enjoyable to work for and increases my overall productivity and output.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
The workload can be hard so I recommend implementing good habits to help achieve everything on time. Learning to separate and balance time effectively can also be really helpful to ensure you are more comfortable with any potential stress you may experience. Understanding when to speak up and ask for help can be really beneficial in this role.
