Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My daily role involves communicating with clients and insurers to obtain the best outcomes for clients. I deal with all aspects of my clients policies such as renewals, mid-term adjustments, cancellations and general queries. I have a number of clients each month and am responsible for managing my workload to ensure my work is done on time.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The internal programme has been great and provided me with lots of support and opportunities and I enjoy working within my team who have been very supportive.
I have found Davies side of the programme quite stressful and feel that there has been a big emphasis on meeting strict deadlines and passing exams as quick as possible, I feel this has restricted me from gaining a deeper understanding of some of the modules.

The Aon programme is well organised and structured.
The Davies programme is also well structured, however, it focuses around their strict deadlines.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have found Aon to be very supportive and they frequently ask us for feedback to make improvements to the programme.
My manager has also been very supportive in times of high workload and has helped rearranged my work so that I have time to focus on my studies.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have catch up calls and reviews with my tutor regularly to discuss my progress and any extra support that I may need. There are also lots of online resources available on their systems.
However, I have found them to be quite intense and deadline focused. I feel that deadlines are prioritised over my personal learning style and this has been a struggle when communicating with my tutor.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have found the qualifications helpful as they have provided me with industry and regulatory knowledge and also given me more knowledge of different insurance products.
As I work in insurance I have found the programme has applied really well to my role.
Some parts of the qualifications have been less relevant but overall I would say it has helped my performance.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are rarely social/networking events in my office, but there are groups that you can join such as mental health groups. There are limited opportunities if you do not work in the London office as this is where the majority of events and opportunities seem to take place.

The programme has helped me to develop skills that will help me throughout my career, and Aon themselves have been very supportive.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
This is a good opportunity that teaches you lots of important skills and knowledge to work in the industry. However, be prepared for the workload that comes with the apprenticeship/qualifications and to sacrifice your person time, but overall the qualifications and knowledge that you gain make this worth it!
