Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work on engineering integration activities and the logistics and governance surrounding them. I work closely with my team and other teams around the business to help progress projects.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
A great amount - I find the work engaging and rewarding

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Many: Communication, architecture design, time management, security, health and safety, presentation and public speaking etc.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
There are some issues, especially with onboarding. However once you're in, I've found my experience to be well structured to deliver the apprenticeship objectives
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots of support, the team is responsive and have been able to help me on multiple occasions
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
There are some issues with achieving the degree side of the apprenticeship, and the provider has attempted to help. The issues are ongoing though, however they have been slowly improving. All of the internal qualifications are well delivered.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
All internally provided training helps a great deal. The university course has helped in a couple of activities, though this is not frequent. Most of my most useful training has been on the job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are some inter-company events, but there are few socials, sports teams etc. Thankfully my team has a few socials per year so I do still get that, however there is no structured socialisation in general

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The work is meaningful and enjoyable, the people are friendly and supportive, the salary is great (especially considering it is in a low cost of living area) and there is serious investment in personal and professional development.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Think about why you want to join, and what experience you have that may be useful. Have you done any engineering (formal or informal) before? Do you build anything for a hobby?
