Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is within manufacturing and my specialisation is fitting. During my first year within the training centre, I am working through modules such as: CAD, fitting, electrical, business improvement, and aircraft jacking.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programmed lots. I look forward to coming into work everyday and learning skills which will help me in my future career at BAE systems.,

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a range of new skills and have vastly developed my knowledge. For example, within fitting, I have learnt how to read engineering drawings and produce an assembly from this. This included learning how to rivet and secure parts together.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I would say that the practical side of my apprenticeship is well structured and I learn effectively within that area. However, when picking my specialisation, I think that it was poorly organised and we should have been given more time to explore each section.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received an adequate amount of support so far in my apprenticeship. My employer allows for my learning experience to be personalised and suit my ways of learning.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provided helps me with my work and guides me through any questions i may have. They have a proactive approach in ensuring that we understand the qualification and develop our skills along the way.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Having my qualification allows me to continuously improve my skillset and prepare for my end role out in the business.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
As a first year apprentice, there have not been many extra curricular activities presented to me. There is opportunities to become a STEM ambassador and help out at open events. It would be beneficial to have extra social activities such as a sports club.
