Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working with the team I am currently placed in I do normal day-to-day meetings and try to learn as much about their roles as possible. Responsibilities vary depending on the team and current on-going work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I wouldn't say the scheme is totally 'nuclear' and it is not what I fully expected, I feel as if the business no longer cares who they hire as there is now too many apprentices. This has created a slight panic among myself and colleagues as we are now not sure on future job prospects.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
This apprenticeship has allowed me to develop both technical and soft skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The scheme is well structured and organised however it is slowly being ruined by the volume of apprentices being brought in.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have yet to take advantage of any support schemes however I feel there is support if I needed it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
I do not feel the training provider is giving me a good level of engineering knowledge, some of the lecturers do not seem interested and I feel my time would be better spent in work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
As of today nothing I have learnt is transferable.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There is opportunities to be had however there is no push from the business to get involved. I also think the opportunity is unfair as some are favoured over others, this is due to them doing more "stretch" than actual work, I do not understand getting rewarded for non-work based activities when the person is clearly not doing well in placement.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There is nothing of this scale in the country and the opportunity to learn is there, the scheme will definitely need looking at as some people are not going to get a fair opportunity in the business.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
n/a
