Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Electrical Apprentice, my role depends on where my placement is. We do 3 4 month placements in one year. Right now my role involves assisting the experienced and trained electricians.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Every day can be different. It is a great apprenticeship if you’re lucky. Some days can be very slow, and some days can be enjoyable as you’ll be learning a lot.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I have learned many new skills that have helped in my learning and job role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well done.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
If support is needed then you will receive it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
For our exam qualifications, yes. We also have an internal examiner who will help assist with our NVQ work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
A decent amount, it helps my understanding of electrical systems and how systems function. It doesn’t necessarily help with my actual experience doing the jobs however.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Probably. I wouldn’t think about joining any sports teams until I’m qualified and fully settled into one sector/placement. However, everyone loves a pint so I’ll be there for any work-do’s 👍.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Babcock International Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
💰 💴 💵
It’s also enjoyable and a great work environment. Good area to be in. Some great people; always learning new skills and gaining experience. All in all though, the money is pretty good, and that’s why we all work realistically.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock International Group?
Don’t expect to learn much in your first 2 years. In college they’ll throw tests at you without even teaching you how to do them.
