Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The insight week was quite inspiring and engaging. There were a range of activities set up by ambassadors for the programme. These ranged from work shadowing in which we would sit in on virtual meetings and observe the daily interactions of the teams to Q&A sessions with leaders who would provide us with information about their journeys (both professionally and personally) within PWC and specifically within their divisions. It was extremely eye-opening and informative.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
I think that whilst we gained an insight into the professional lives on individuals, it was difficult to gather an understanding of all of the different roles which were available within Technology, Data and Analytics. However, I feel confident that I have knowledge of the logistics of the graduate programme and how people have ended up within their specialisms and divisions - this often arises from trying a few different sectors before finding a niche to satisfy.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I think I've developed more confidence in my ability to ask questions to those superior to me as PWC really do champion the notion that no question is too silly to be asked. I also resonated heavily with the motto which one of the Partners live by which is 'what's the worst that can happen'. The people-centric culture of the company really stood out to me and helped me to understand the commonality of imposter syndrome and the way that successful individuals mitigate it within their daily lives.

Company Culture

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight
5/5
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company was extremely welcoming and friendly. All of the staff members which were involved within the programme seemed to have a genuine interest in providing resources and tools to those attending the scheme. Whenever a question was asked to a member of staff about why they have chosen to stay with the company as long as they have, their answers often surrounded the people and the culture of the company. Lending a hand to each other is common practice and this culture has made the experience thoroughly enjoyable.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I have thoroughly enjoyed this insight week. I feel that I have been able to gain a holistic understanding of the company and that people have offered their honest opinions in highlighting both the positives of PWC and the areas for improvement. I feel that I have been inspired by the successful women to whom we have been lucky enough to meet and I feel motivated to create a similar success for myself in the future.

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC
I would say that being friendly and personable is key, also having a genuine interest in the subject or division you're applying for makes the application and insight experience much more enjoyable. Being able to interact with people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and industries are really important as this is largely what the programme focuses on. Furthermore, have confidence to ask your questions or give your opinion as engagement is what they are looking for.
