Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Varies according to placement which changes each year, lots of chasing people and putting together packs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Enjoy university and changes are made frequently to accommodate feedback although sometimes feel thrown in the deep end in terms of placement, although skills coaches are always there if there are any issues.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
definitely, developed IT skills, confidence, English and maths skills through university modules, development of other skills are also tracked in reviews which are every 12 weeks, more focused on Knowledge's, skills and behaviours in relation to project management and BAE

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think the programme is very well organised and there are opportunities for apprentices to raise issues relating to placement, university and any other issues there may be, although i think communication can be an issue some times.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I think this varies from placement to placement, in my first year i didn't feel well supported at all but in my second i feel strong support from my skills coach and my manager.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
University of Cumbria does work well to accommodate any changes which are needed or any issues however i think there could be a lot more support and communication, i was assigned a 'tutor' who would be available for support but after a year they still haven't been in touch.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think the knowledge communicated and learnt at university is vital to understanding tasks and what is happening in placement and without support from university of Cumbria people i would definitely struggle in placement
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is a yearly christmas night out for all apprentices and there are sometimes cohort nights out to mark finishing university for the year. There are also placement meals and nights out depending on the team. Placement and early careers are also happy for people to go on away days to networking events
