Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work the the shopfloor operators to aid in business improvements and solve issues they may have. I also tie in with stem ambassadorship and work with the schools in the local area for events stuch as work experience and opportunities we offer to visit site.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far as an apprentice at BAE Systems, there have been some hiccups along the way however overall they have given me opportunities to see different areas of the business, create a strong network both internally and externally and there is the opportunity to travel the world with the company whilst you work which is a great bonus.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have significantly developed my confidence, resilience, public speaking ability, leadership, integrity, collaboration with others, ability to be innovative, courage and have also improved my knowledge in aspects such as material properties, the process we take to manufacture our products, and the importance of working together as a business.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

At the beginning of the apprentice the programme lacked clarity as to what we could expect from our time here along with little to no input from the business due to minimal communication between function and early careers however now they have a much greater input with us and has ensured to be present during our apprenticeship to provide assistance and also are communicating more effectively.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

BAE Systems as an employer ensure that us as employees feel supported both in and outside of work. They ensure to treat Staff, executives and apprentices equally and offer great benefits.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The business provides us with plenty of support whilst we work towards our qualification by giving us plenty of opportunity both inside and outside of work to spent time studying for tests or working on assignments wherever necessary.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that the qualifications we are put through aids us in our daily tasks as the studies include the use of CAD software, properties of materials and other similar subject which we use daily in our job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The business puts on networking opportunities for the employees and individual teams also very commonly make plans with each other to go for days out

I have enjoyed my time so far as an apprentice along with the fact that the opportunities such as working abroad and benefits are fantastic.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
During the interview process make sure you have done your homework on the company such as locations, key behaviours they want and finally be confident during.
