Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to assist in the completion of any current or upcoming project and contracts and support them until they are completed and closed down. This involves, stakeholder meetings, LCM phase reviews, Monthly drumbeat performance reporting and much more.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I do enjoy the programme and i think it has a lot to offer, but i think it had a rocky start and there are functions within the business which do not communicate well and are not on the same page which can be annoying and tedious. I also believe that many people put in a position in which they oversee an apprentice require significant leadership training on how to train/facilitate & support an apprentice.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to effectively communicate and formally construct letters. I have developed a much greater understand of project performance analysis techniques.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Could be better. It has only be running in my company for 2 years so i think over time the organisation and structure will significantly improve.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I feel like there is a lot of support from the employer itself. There are a lot of people you can talk to receive support weather that's support with the work load or anything going on at home.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Been in the business 6-7 months and haven't really done any training towards a qualification. Just been doing work for the company so i do not feel i am in a position to answer this question truthfully and honestly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

So far it hasn't. i believe in the second year we take on the APM which i personally believe will able me to perform better by being more knowledgeable of pm techniques.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are stretch project which are fantastic. Probably my favourite part of the job. These allow you to meet like minded apprentices and network. Some stretches provide the opportunity to do events in schools, colleges & career events which gives you the opportunity to inspire a younger generation to enter the STEM industry.
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There are reasons i would recommend to a friend and there are reasons i wouldn't. I think overall the opportunity is excellent and the career scope is phenomenal. However i believe there are changes which could be made to make it better to further improve the apprenticeships. As it stands now i would recommend the degree course and not the Level 4 course.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Talk about your experiences being a leader, supporting people and working as a team. Do not be afraid to show off your achievements a high points in the start of your working career. Mention projects you have previously worked on during previous employment or school/college.
