Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role on a day-to-day basis consists of checking my emails, having internal calls with my line manager/wider team, attending client meetings and preparing legal documents. This can extend to attending court hearings and conference with counsel. Each day varies which is what I love about the job.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am really enjoying the programme so far. I am learning different areas of law (some which are relevant to my practice) and I am developing different skills dependant on how the module is assessed i.e., oral skills, written skills and problem solving skills.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed existing skills as I completed a Level 3 apprenticeship at Irwin Mitchell before starting the Level 7 solicitor apprenticeship. This includes communication skills, organisation skills, research skills and drafting skills, for example. I have also learnt some new skills as I progress through the apprenticeship.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well structured. I know what I need to study each week and there is a timetable for when assessments are due so that I can stay on track. My programme is continuous, meaning the modules follow one another without a break. We are provided with a timetable.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer. They are always checking in on how my studies are going and I get one day off a week designated to my university work. I also attend internal training sessions which are relevant to my area of practice.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I feel confident in reaching out to my training provider if I have any queries or concerns. I have a designated skills coach who conducts review meetings every 10-12 weeks.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that working towards my qualification helps me to perform better in my role as my knowledge is widening, I am tested on a lot of different skills and I feel more competent in carrying out my day-to-day role for this reason.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are lots of extra-curriculum activities to get involved in at work. There is a high focus on professional networking events which is great for business development and building external connections.
