Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Right now I am in my first year of my apprenticeship. Day to day I would be doing things like having experience in the workshop working hands on for 2 days and a week and the other 3 days I am in the classroom leading the theory side of it.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

This is the first thing I have done from school and I am really enjoying the experience so far. I am able to learn hands on and it is relaxed but you are learning at the same time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I had no prior experience of any work before this job, I have learnt many things about domestic electrical work like putting in different circus, how the consumer unit works and how to test circuits and electrical equipment.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very stricter with clear insight and what is expected of us, what we need to do day to day and how our career paths could shape our.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I haven’t need any support yet but they always offer it and are always there if you do need help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They always make sure we are getting tasks done on time and if they are not they will put support in the make sure we understand properly and we get the work done.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that because of my training provider I am able to have better knowledge of my job role and how to perform different tasks in confidence.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there is things like the apprentice council, a place to provide your thoughts on buissness processes, stem events like going round to schools.

Because I have found that it is very enjoyable, well structured and they provide a good way of learning that isn’t stressfu.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
To prepare and learn about the company prior. If you want a job in bae you will get it if you work hard enough.
