Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am an apprentice at MINI Plant oxford where i am training to be part of the maintenance team. At Plant oxford the maintenance team work alongside the production line to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently, ensuring that they resolve any issues and faults to the best of their ability to keep the production line running.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship programme as i feel part of the team and everyone i have worked with have been very friendly and easy to talk to. The work i do whilst doing my apprenticeship is also very interesting and technical which keeps me busy and satisfied with my workload.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt many new skills during my apprenticeship, recently i have been able to learn how to operate Flat bed trucks, forklifts, and overhead cranes. Previously, at the start of my apprenticeship, i was able to learn how to operate machinery such as Lathes, Pillar Drills, MMA Welding Equipment and Milling Machines. i already had some engineering skills from college and school which i have been able to develop on during my time with BMW Group such as producing engineering drawings, solving mathematical equations and dilemmas related to engineering situations, and using hand tools such as files, hammers, power tools, spanners/ratchets and saws.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
i believe my apprenticeship programme is well organised and structured to a large extent, i feel there is a definite plan and structure to my apprenticeship programme and know what the plan ahead looks like as i progress through the 4 years. Although there may be some instances where i am not sure what is going, the managers are always easy to approach to ask what is going on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel that i receive lots of support from my employer, as i have entered my 4th year there have been lots of new challenges to face and my training manager has been very supportive and understanding. i am able to contact my manager and discuss any issue and they will respond to these challenges as quick and effectively as possible.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I also receive lots of support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications. the tutors and staff working for our training provider are very helpful and are always contactable to talk about any issues. Our tutor is especially supportive when it comes to our qualifications as they are always ready to help with any class work or assignments and they are always reachable.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
i believe that to a large extent the qualification from my training provider had helped me perform better in job role. My qualification has enabled me to have a more technical understanding of my work environment such as through understanding dimensions and measurements, technical language and symbols, types of tools and their use and also mathematical problem solving.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work. We have a charity team who organise many events and activities in order to raise money for charities such as CALM and they host sports events such as football and rounders, cake sales, car washes and season quizzes. There are also 'Family Days' where employees can bring their families to show them their workplace and also take part in fun activities.
