Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working as fabricator involves performing sheet metal work and welding. The role will involve performing structural repairs on naval ships. Currently the first year is all at college to get the grips of the basics.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I've enjoyed it very much so far, and based on my current experience this will be a rewarding career.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I've learnt several skill so far include sheet and plate work, and the basic fundamentals of welding. I've also learnt to interpret engineering drawings and gain an understanding of materials and their properties.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Quite well organised. Babcock have a strong presence in city college and work closed with the tutors.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

They've taken the time to introduce themselves and give guidance on what to expect throughtout the apprenticeship and beyond.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

All the tutors are great and I've been impressed by their depth of knowledge and attitude.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

There is a sheet metal contest that can be entered, I don't know anything else.
