Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In college daily learning theory about my job role, as well as taking part in hands on jobs in the workshop, learning new fabrication techniques and ways to make pipework to a specific specification and allowance.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme so far has been okay, although the college environment is not my favourite. I feel some learning has been repetitive and some material taught feels irrelevant to our job role. Although teachers have tried there best to deliver good lessons.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I’ve learnt various new manufacturing and fabrication techniques within the workshop including, welding, brazing, soldering and using nuts and bolts to attach flanges together. Ive learnt new safety skills and practices also.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The overall structure of my apprenticeship is very good I have had a plan for the next 3 and a half years laid out and know where I am with making progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The employer regularly visits within the college to try and keep us updated on how things are going within the company.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We get regularly scheduled interviews and talks with skills coaches and representatives from BAE. They tell us what we need to do to improve.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification targets knowledge skills and behaviours, to overall focus on you performing better in your role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
