Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
Attend Furness college, complete all assessments in 3 months, sit around and wait with nothing to do for a further 3 months until you get put on placement
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
Very unimpressed with the programme so far, I’ve not dealt with BAE much as of yet but Furness college have not been even close to meeting my expectations. Tutors have not turned up to lessons and some who have we’re not providing lessons correctly, little in the way of communication throughout.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
Learnt quite a bit in the workshop, the theory was quite good whilst it lasted, could be improved by providing more work or learning opportunities to be available to those who progress quickly.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Poorly, as said before, tutors not turning up to lessons, little to no communication throughout the college and the employer. Spent far too much time simply sat around the college achieving nothing. Morale is low amongst the apprentices, hoping moving across to the yard will change the situation drastically.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
The business seems to be quite far away at the moment, but that being said there’s not too much they can do with the program being run by Furness college at this stage. So far I’d say I’m still looking forward to moving across to the yard.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
N/A at this stage
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Still working on Lvl 2 at this stage, would say it’s an ok beginning to get to know the very basics before moving into work
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
No
Why?
The entry level 2 with the Furness College needs to be completely revamped or a new training provider found.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Improvement needs to be made to communications to students, sat around in a college with no work to do and no idea when or how your going to move across to the yard is not good for morale and motivation.
