I work in a team of software engineers and product managers, writing, testing and maintaining software products for use in the aviation industry.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The day-to-day company work is engaging and interesting. The university work, while occasionally disorganised, is usually very enjoyable and fun to do, even when juggling company work and deadlines. Some other aspects of required apprenticeship training are not as fun, but necessary.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my skills in the engineering field: creating high quality work, writing reliable documentation and collaboration between functions and teams. I have also developed general skills: communication, teamwork and courage to name a few.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The core expectations and contacts are clear early on but, being such a large company, communications are often missed and responsibility of early careers staff is often difficult to understand.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Time off for university, help from previous apprentices, dedicated support staff.
Some improvement could be had in the structure of this support network, but all are keen to help.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Weekly time off for university (usually around ~1.5 days), time off for uni exams and occasionally additional time off before large deadlines.
For the other apprenticeship qualifications, effective support is available but often stretched thin over many apprentices and sites.
