Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The Scheme gave an overview of the work that a trainee solicitor does on a day-to-day basis. The work involved attending team meetings to discuss what work everyone should be doing. It also involved doing research and writing articles for the firms website on impacts of particular issues, for example climate change. Additionally, there was also business development projects where I had to find perspective clients, which the firm wanted to approach.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
I was interesting to find out more about the business and how it was expanding not only regionally but also internationally. They also explained that there is a wide range of roles available for those who want a career in commercial law.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I improved on my team working skills as we had to do presentations in groups. My research skills improved as I was taught how to use legal platforms to do more detailed research. My communication skills also improved as I gained more confidence because I was continuously given networking opportunities.
