Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Carrying out varying tasks on site as well as in the office. Building key communication skills from working with piers and other joint venture companies. Gaining experience in setting out and surveying whilst also increasing my knowledge of the construction industry and processes by writing and reading different documents.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy the programme, the initial 9 week college block was a great way to interact with the other new apprentices and give us a way to ease into the company. We also held talks with the COO and other important figures in the company and able to ask them questions and learn more about the company that way as well.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have only just learned these skills and have been given multiple opportunities to be able develop them and learn from these past experiences. I have also undergone multiple training sessions funded by the company to help develop in areas that may not be possible on my assigned site.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised we have an initial 9 weeks in college at Leeds where we learned some of the basic/key information that would need to build a foundation for us to work of off. Since then we have had calls the first week of every month to be able keep in touch. We also have scheduled calls with an ICE representative who helps us along the way by guiding us to which KSB's we will need to achieve our qualification.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As stated before, through the apprentice team there is constant support for us along with any miscellaneous emails we may receive providing information for upcoming projects. On site I am constantly asking questions when needed and my colleagues are always happy to help and make an effort to go into further depth until I am happy with my understanding.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Also as stated before, we have scheduled calls with an ICE representative, they guide us and help to prompt ideas in possible areas of work in which we are be to achieve the our qualifications. We are also put onto courses which will help in this aspect as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The constant development on my knowledge has drastically helped in my performance at work. I am constantly working on more difficult tasks and pushed in a very supportive way with help from anyone that I have asked. By developing these skills I am also becoming more comfortable in my skill level and constantly trying to improve because of this
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There have been events that I have attended through my site and the apprenticeship that have allowed me to communicate with the higher BAM team. Through talking to them we have been able to give ideas on what we think could benefit the apprenticeship programme but also get an insight into work much later down the line.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because I have not had any problems with the apprenticeship so far. The wage is very accommodating and I am constantly being helped throughout my professional development. BAM also offers other help that I have not needed such as mental health councillors, however it is assuring to know that options like this are available if they are ever needed
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
To apply as soon as possible as it is definitely something you will regret missing out on
