Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my current placement I am involved with sourcing, contract award and contract management. On the scheme your role varies depending on the placement. Placements can include Logistics, Supply Chain Planning, source to contract, Supply Chain Growth and category management

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have thoroughly enjoyed the variety that this offers. By having placements every four months you are able to build an awareness of the full department and function.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have gained work-based skills such as order book management, invoice management, sourcing skills and negotiations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is well structured with clear expectations from placement managers, mentors and management.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have a lot of support including peer support on the apprenticeship scheme and support from colleagues in the department. On each placement you have a placement manager and buddy to support development and you also have a manager and mentor that stay with you throughout the scheme.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I was supported by others in the department who have completed the qualification. We are given our learning time each week and it is guaranteed that you will take it.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe that the qualification links closely with all procurement activities and each placement has tied in with certain modules.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, we have been able to engage with the Devon Chamber of Commerce events, support developing supply chain events, STEM activities.
