The apprenticeship scheme is very well laid out, there's a pretty clear structure on your timeline. Day to day can be a little bit dull as you're an apprentice so minimised on what you can help out with but you can shadow staff/engineers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really like it, I think it's a very enticing scheme, there's lots of opportunity for personal and professional growth too. There's a lot to learn and a lot of areas you can move to.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yep, so I think that there's many courses and opportunities that work advise you to complete as part of your apprenticeship. There's plenty of time to study and learn new skills. If you have previous experience, there can be the opportunity to use them in a real world project.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure is fairly well laid out, it takes some time to get used to the team and the people we have available, but it makes sense and there's constant communication and support. We're made aware of university dates and other commitments very early on so there's no clashing of dates.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support, they are very proactive in telling us what we should be doing, what stages we're at and where we should be down the line so we can progress towards that goal.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There is lots of support. We can message our course leads on Teams and also email them if we have any issues with the content or any assignments due.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It takes a while for it to be relevant as they have to make sure everyone is on the page page and irrespective of your background, you're able to learn the content. There have been many useful lectures that I have applied into my work and my way of thinking.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There's lots of STEM Events that you can sign up to, depending on the office that you work at, you can be a part of a running club or another sports club. There are some events that you can sign yourself up to, both virtual and in-person that the company will pay for you to attend.

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company is very big, there's a lot of opportunity to grow, move sectors and there's a nice amount of flexibility. There is a very good benefits package and they look after the staff. Very interesting projects that you're working on too.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be yourself, be willing to learn and show enthusiasm if you're passionate about the job/sector you're applying for. The company takes their values seriously and if you align with them, then you can be a good fit for the company.
