Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am an administration apprentice and jobs vary each day. Most days I am taking telephone calls reporting defects/maintenance up keep on all of the buildings within the the dockyard, and I also support the FLM's with their recording of the industrial staff.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme thoroughly. I believe earning while learning in an apprenticeships in one of the best routes someone can take and I wish I did it sooner.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt hundreds of new skills varying from confidence when presenting, creating PowerPoints, to email etiquette and using Microsoft applications.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Our apprenticeship is very well structured with projects throughout and always areas for improvement.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer and know that if I have any problems I will always have someone to speak too.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I feel that my training enables me to expand my knowledge and take new skills into my role.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are lots of events within our company that allows us to get involved. We offer 'Be Kind' days for employees to take one extra day of paid leave to partake in volunteering. Each department will also hold Christmas Do's where you can all get together outside of work.
