Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
There are 7 placements all around the dockyard over an 18 month period so every day is different. The dynamics change whether you're working in warships, submarines, facilities, central audit, labs ETC. The consistent factor is applying the underpinning theory of quality delivered by Capella PMI in to the workplace.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I found the programme rewarding and eye opening to all different trades that we come in to contact with on a daily basis through collaborative working arrangements. It provided me a stepping stone towards a rewarding career without having a large financial burden.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my auditing skills further as well as my outlook on large business. They have many moving parts and its interesting what they must comply with to operate.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well organised and is set out clearly from day 1. You know what is expected of you as a H/L apprentice and what your roles are. The 7 placements give you a real flavour of what the dockyard does and how collaborative the work is.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Fantastic levels of support from start to finish. Support from the line manager and mentor doesn't stop when travelling from placement to placement. They are always there for you and go above and beyond. The early careers team are great too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A solid amount. Its granted that there are a fair few delegates enrolled so not all the time can be 1:1. But having said that, our trainer does go above and beyond to fit you in with his busy schedule.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It provides the much needed theory to the practical element of the job. Not having the theory to bolster the knowledge can lead to a dissatisfactory career.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are many but I am only involved with a few. I am part of the young professionals network at Babcock and my basketball has a Babcock sponsor.
