Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is a cyber security apprentice is primarily within our security operations centre (SOC) where we provide a 24/7 managed SIEM (security information and event management), vulnerability management and MDR services. On a day to day basis we will start with a daily stand up and the rest of the day can different depending on what your working on, how far you are in your apprenticeship and what your team is working on.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my program to a high extent since it is a field that I am interested in and that is growing at a rapid speed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, before this apprenticeship my knowledge and skills about cyber security where minimal. Through this apprenticeship I have gained and will continue to gain more technical skills while also improving my soft skills such as presenting, negotiation and organisation.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of the apprenticeship program is currently being improved so that following apprentices can gain more opportunities.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have received a lot of support and encouragement from my team, learning and development and also members higher up in the company.

It has given me the basic foundational knowledge that is necessary to do well in the area.

Yes there are societies within the company that provide events related to their areas. There are also team night outs and kick off.
