Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Day to day I help facilitate positive relationships with Softcat and the vendors that we work with. My main job role is to enable marketing activities to take place and monitor MDF (marketing development funds). I raise company credit cards so that marketing activities can be paid for, and also access, monitor and edit different "pots" for each vendor so that they know how much they have to spend on marketing activities with softcat. I also ensure that invoices are paid, and help with any queries regarding my area.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the programme a lot, and like the amount of support available by my trading provider, my colleagues and my managers and am grateful for the opportunity of being able to learn a lot, as well as share existing skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have definitely improved my communication skills, as efficient communication is essential for supporting our vendors and teams that I work with. As well as this, there are times where I need to present information in meetings which at first I found daunting, but my confident has boosted a lot since starting my apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Quite well structured, with bi-weekly calls where we learn content with our trading provider as well as an online portal for submitting weekly modules. Softcat are also quite understanding with allowing us designated time to complete coursework so that it does not interfere with our daily work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Since joining softcat I was allocated a "buddy" who had previously completed an apprenticeship here and he helps me with any modules I may be stuck on, but as well as this the management are always as supportive as possible and I know I can lean on colleagues where I need to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I feel a lot of support, as we have monthly 1-1s with our provider and regular sessions where content is taught and discussed. As well as this I know I can always email my training provider with any queries and can book in a call with ease where needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I think that it is very relevant to my role, as I learn many tips and tricks that help me do things more efficiently and help me produce a better quality of work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many things, I know their is a weekly football team, a cricket team and loads of opportunities to get stuck into. Recently me and my department got together at Meta's office in London for a company update but as well as this we got to get talks from Meta themselves on AI and emerging technologies.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Softcat to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have found the course beneficial so far, and I like how relevant my apprenticeship is to the role I am doing. I love how much support is available from my management, colleagues and training provider and the role and apprenticeship is rewarding.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
I would say definitely research Softcat and what values we have here. There is a strong community culture here and we are passionate about what we do. I would also say try and think what value you could bring, and also think what value you would gain from Softcat - its got to work for everyone.
