Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
I am currently in the first year of my apprenticeship so my day to day mainly involves learning new skills and preparing for my assessments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The programme does have enjoyable moments but it could be better.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learned some new skills since starting work here.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
The organisation and structure of the programme is very poor. There is a lot of time wasted where we are not doing much. We are 6 months in and have only completed 2 modules. The academic aspect of the apprenticeship could be much more condensed. Furthermore, the order of the modules is not great, we where made to complete the electrical principle module quite late into the year and we still haven't completed our maths module.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I would say that the support from the employer is good.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We do receive a good amount of support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Although I haven't started work on the ships yet, i believe that the qualification should provide me with a good amount of base knowledge to help me in my role. I think it would be better if it was more specific to maritime as a lot of the training we are doing is more general domestic training and not specific to maritime.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some extra curricular activities such as field gun but there could be more.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think despite the fact that the apprenticeship could be improved upon, BAE systems is a large name in the industry and it is still worth completing an apprenticeship with them.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Make sure you know which role you are applying for and that you are passionate about it.
