Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Completing a range of different tasks and skills that are beneficial to my job. These tasks will be in the form of modules which I will do which cover an engineering study area such as CAD or aircraft jacking which are all relevant to my job.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I genuinely enjoy coming to work every day and the range of topics that we do every day is interesting and informative. I have also found that the people I work with are helpful and interesting and all skills coaches will help me with any questions that I have.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a range of different skills such as aircraft jacking, a variety of business improvement techniques , hands on engineering skills which work to super tight tolerance and I'm currently doing CAD which is really interesting

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
my BTEC work is really well organised however my college work that I do once a week does struggle with teachers and the amount of content covered. Recently had to delay exams because we have not had the chance to learn the subjects at all.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
If I have any questions, worries or concerns then I can always ask the skills coaches and staff dedicated for support. Any concerns that we have will be dealt with in a good fast way.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
In the workshop 3 days a week we have a good range of support however in college due to the lack of teachers, we massively struggle when it comes to learning some of the difficult subjects and topics.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It gives me a more thorough understanding of the working environment that I am working in and how my education will relate to the work I am doing when relating it to a real life experience of people and jobs in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
we started a work football group at the start of the year which has slowly degraded over time. Multiple people do go out on nights out every so often but its not common to happen compared to what I expected.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The career prospects are great and the people are genuinely here to help all the times if you ask for the help. The company is hard to get into however it is a job for life thats always comfortable.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Grades aren't the only thing that they focus on. Build up your personal skill set and build up you as a person such as your soft skills like leadership, teamwork and communication. The business would rather have a person who's a really good person with a good skillset compared to someone who is a perfect student. You can improve grades easily, Improving how a person is generally is hard to do.
