Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Apprentices work in 6-monthly placements in different teams within the business sector and aim to complete work that fulfils apprenticeship mandated KSBs, NVQs and BAE specific Goals. The working week is 37 hours long with half day Fridays, one of these 8 hour days are dedicated to College, with the other time spent in-office working.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I do enjoy the content of the degree which I find interesting and the work in both college and office is very accommodating and rewarding. The workload can pile on which does result in lost weekends.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Beyond learning for our degree from the College, the company has a large drive on personal development with dedicated features to develop professional and personal goals. Skills which I personally have developed is time and people management skills, communication skills with strangers and other technical skills relating to my job.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The college programme is very well structured due to experience lecturers and the structure of the work content is very flexible to what is required to hit needed KSBs and NVQs. The NVQ structure and organisation is a bit to be desired as it seems a bit make it up as you go.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Our employer is very accommodating of our work load when communicated to our line managers, for example they provide additional time if required to complete assignments in concentrated workloads.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Required time is provided to complete NVQs but this is an area of improvement needed. Regarding college, adequate support is given.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Content of the course such as business management courses do very much link to work activities though our Qualification is only loosely related to our job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are social reps in sites to organise extra curricular activities outside of work. Stretch activities, which is work beyond the normal day to day activities, is heavily promoted for Early Careers to attend.
