Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My apprenticeship uses a placement format where I go from team to team completing various tasks. These tasks provide input to the project whilst also allowing me to learn as well.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I do enjoy the programme, both coming into work and learning about different topics and skills at college.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learnt new skills, such as using different software applications such as Visio.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Seemed a bit unstructured at the start, since I believe it is still a fairly new apprenticeship. The NVQ part of the apprenticeship still seems unstructured as there is no set plan for us, we have to work out what we have to do and create the plan ourselves.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive plenty of support from employer, they allow me to seperate time from working week to work on apprenticeship tasks. With regards to work they are always happy to answer any questions that I have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
They allow me to separate time from work working week to complete various qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I do feel that the engineering course could be more specific to what the programme completes. We are completing an mechanical/aerospace engineering degree while most of this knowledge is not needed for our daily roles.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are social events that are avaiable throughout the summer, for example I have played part in a 5-a-side football tournament before that took place on the weekend organised by work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Competitive pay, and due to the nature and size of company a lot of opportunities are there to further progress your career once the apprenticeship has been finished. Does seem like there is always somewhere to progress no matter what job role you currently have.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Practice your interview, focus more on how you present yourself as I believe they look at the behaviour traits you have just as much as what your expected grades or current qualifications that you have.
