Overall Rating

4/5 - Skills Development
3/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work on software tasks, particularly around automation, for network device testing. Day-to-day I am reviewing pull requests coming into the projects I own and preparing for device upgrades
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I enjoy the work aspect, but have not personally enjoyed the learning owing to poor organisation and quality from the learning provider

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed soft skills primarily

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
From a business perspective it is good, but the learning provider is very disorganised
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My managers have always been very supportive throughout the program, providing help where needed and allowing me to excel in areas that I can.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The training provider doesn't provide a great level of teaching or support until we complain and involve the company to strong arm them into providing things they should be anyway.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I would say the qualification has dubious value for someone in a software engineering role that has already done software engineering in the past.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes

It's a nice place to work, with highly motivated colleagues who are all willing to help and share their knowledge.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
If you get through to interviews, don't be afraid to mention things that you are passionate about if they are relevant
