Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I start my day by checking my emails, and taking the appropriate action where required. During the day, I regularly interact and communicate with system owners, organising Risk Assessments, as well as members of my team. There is a fountain of knowledge here, of which I try to take advantage.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am extremely enjoying my apprenticeship, I am learning and improving my skills daily, with a vast amount of opportunities that I am actively encouraged to procure. There really is the potential to build a long and prosperous career here.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have both learnt new skills and developed existing skills since starting my apprenticeship, from learning a new programming language to how to conduct myself professionally. The extra measures my team leaders have put in place to help apprentices learn basic business skills, such as presenting, are fantastic!
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Overall, I feel my programme is very well organised, each year is clearly laid out with what modules you will be studying. Along with a lot of notice for the dates of both assignments and face to face meetings, provides a painless experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

To date, my employer has been incredibly supportive, even before I was officially an employee. They want to get the best out of you, and are willing to go extra mile to ensure you have what you need to be a quality employee, who enjoys their place of work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My lecturers have also been incredible supportive, whether its taking the time to provide feedback on draft versions of assignments, of which has been returned to myself very quickly, to again making sure I have the correct resources, so I can be at my best.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Both my qualification and my role work seamlessly with one another. Within my qualification, we are consistently referenced to our workplace, and vice versa. From my role, there are many opportunities to complete our KSB's (Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours; the mark scheme required to complete our qualification)
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are numerous professional network events to take part in, which it is actively encouraged to do so. On a more 'social' side, the community through out the apprentices is amazing, we are constantly organising different events at the weekend and evenings out.

Why?
BAE Systems is a great company to work for, with vast avenues for both professional and personal development. It can be daunting joining a company of such scale, wondering if you may be 'another cog in the machine', however I have not had this feeling at all!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
For myself, the interview was the make or break moment. How do I conduct myself, what to say, etc. Learning how to phrase my answers using the STAR method really carried me through it; also to just relax! (easier said than done) but it really isn't as bad as you think it's going to be!
