Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am currently working on coding an application, I spend most of my time doing that with intermissions for meetings when I ask for help or where I report my progress.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Since I have rotational placements my enjoyment of the programme has varied by placement however overall I would call it a positive experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I have been explicitly been given time to learn many skills. I have vastly expanded my knowledge of programming languages and tools.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structured, there is a defined plan in place and it is highly flexible if I where to raise an issue.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have many points of contact if I need one, I am able to make changes to my work patterns where it would benefit me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I am given good time to complete coursework and training with an emphasis on not overwhelming me with regular work as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
It help me develop useful soft skills which are important in my role, such as management basics, presenting, and how teams interact.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I am very friendly with my co-workers and have socialised with them outside of work in group activities often. Due to geographical restraints our ability to meet regularly is somewhat limited.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Incredibly supportive staff and company as a whole. Flexibility is high and I am not under any pressure at work, I am actively told to ask for reallocation of my time if I feel I need it. The only thing that has caused me difficulty is my lack of experience which I would face anywhere. I am excited to continue working here.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Many applicants focus on highlighting skills in their fields but often soft skills are just as important to highlight (especially for an apprenticeship where you have little relevant skills to evidence). Think about how you can show you are hardworking and enthusiastic about the company/role.
