Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Currently I create looms for aircraft manufactured by BAE Systems. I have however been around the business in different areas working on all sorts of different aircraft electronic systems. This has also included some live jet work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The program has been very enjoyable and everyone I have worked with has been great. Only issue I have had is regarding the amount of written work required. But this is mostly due to external factors outside company control.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a lot through the ASK training school and on the job training through very knowledgeable staff members who all want to see my succeed.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The organisation has been good, but unfortunately due to a few staff change overs there has been some disruption to plans. but these seem to be an issue of the past now. Overall it has been well organised and the scheme is well established.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support from all parts of the business is fantastic, through from on site managers, tutors and union reps.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

As training in internals it is very easy for me to contact who I need to for help and guidance.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel there is too much focus on written work that seems irrelevant or pointless. This is more an issue with apprenticeship regulations and issues outside the control of the company.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
APPLY!! If you don't get through first time, don't worry, me and a lot of others didn't. Also don't sit around not doing anything waiting for the window to reopen. Go get experience in the field you want to go into, and carry this into the next interview, it will show dedication.
