Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Management of projects, in terms of schedule, finance and governance. Working with stakeholders to gain information to inform decisions regarding the project. Using online tools to manage projects. Working towards achieving the KSBs needed for to complete apprenticeship.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The company are supportive of our learning, provide exciting roles with regular rotations through teams and projects. Improvements could be made to the processes around the apprenticeship is run, and the company are open to hearing these improvements to make developments.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my confidence, communication skills, and overall abilities in knowing how to lead a projects. In the apprenticeship I am encouraged to identify areas of weakness, improve my skill set and practise improving my ability in those areas.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is still being altered in how it is run, finding the best processes and finalising a team to support apprentices. With this change often occurs causing confusions. The team are very supportive, there just needs to be more clarity on how the apprenticeship is organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

very supportive, with assistance from the early careers team, placement team and surrounding employees supporting my learning in general.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The university as also supportive, communication with the employer and University could be improved to resolve small in convinces that arise. The university have a mix of staff, some more helpful and supportive than others. My personal tutor is supportive and provides the help I need.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The knowledge i learn in my University course and in additional training programmes directly link to my work, and so I am able to practise theories in real project situations. In turn this helps me perform better in my role and be confident in my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many extra projects to get involved in from those that are business improvements, to hosting events and leading social activities for your office. These projects are actively supported and encouraged, allowing a mixture of work completed on the day to day.

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have had a very positive experience so far, the apprenticeship is well supported, by both the University and the company. There are clear career progression routes, the salary is competitive with benefits of hybrid working and flexi working hours. The workload is manageable with the additional learning to be undertaken

Be proactive, professional, honest and open to the opportunities that arise.
