Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Mondays, I go to college at BAE's ASK facility. (college day changes each year) and on Tuesdays - Thursdays I go to placements onsite. I have flexible working hours but a usual day should be 7:30 - 5:15. The slightly longer days mean that I have a 3 day weekend.
On placement I work alongside a skilled worker and they will show me how to do the various tasks and then let me have a go at doing them myself.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme and it allows me to have a good work / life balance due to the flexible hours.
The work is ever-changing and interesting. No two days are the same and the facilities onsite are of a high standard.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have learned key skills. All manufacturing apprentices learn fitting skills as well as their pathway which ranges from electrical, maintenance (of the sites), fabricating, toolmaking and machining. The pathway is chosen by both the apprentice and business needs at the beginning of the apprenticeship and placements will focus on these skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The program is well organised. Placements are 6 months long and the first year is organised so you know what you are doing each day.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive as much support as needed. Whether it be about learning the job or admin things, support is always available
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I get a review every 10 weeks to ensure I am on track. My skills coach is always contactable on Skype if I need immediate help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are various opportunities to get involved in that aren't part of the course both through the company and the apprentice training centre. The Warton Sports and Social Association (SASA) welcomes apprentices
